    Post Winamp Shell not working

I have Win 98, and I went into , the system.ini, and changed the shell, to "c:/program files/winamp/winamp.exe", then I rebooted, and a message came, up saying, " could not load, "winap.exe", so went in dos, and changed the system.ini, back, and I have windows again, How can i make Winamp the shell?

Try using the 8.3 naming convention, i.e. C:\progra~1\winamp\winamp.exe. I used this when experimenting with Windows and it worked perfectly.

    Hey Jrlockman,

Make sure those slashes are pointing correctly \ not /. If you got it wrong in your post, there's also a chance you got it wrong in the code.

    Cool

nope, it has to do with the long dir names. Apperently the bloody MS function that they used to get the path doesn't support long dir name. It will return the 8.3 format to you. On NT, it works fine. Word of Advice, if u are going to be changing your shell to something else other than explorer. Make sure it is on the ROOT dir and the dir name better be less than 8 char. Ever wonder how come explorer.exe works fine???. Look at the lenght of c:\windows. "Windows" is less than 8 char.
