    Post Competition Abuse

Hi all. Just took my MP3Mirage to my first competition today. I placed 2nd in my class. Everybody thought I had the best car out there because it is all run by the computer. Problem was it was just an SPL competition, and my HDD took a beating. It was running fine under my sub wall, the vibration didn't seem too bad, but today I had it cranked a little farther than normal and I had a couple lockups. I had to play off CD cause then it would keep running if the HDD locked. I just got a HotSwap bay and will put that in soon to help the situation. I was supprised that the CD didn't skip but it might be cause I just got a Pioneer 16X DVD and I mounted it vertically. I just wanted to let everybody know that MP3 Car systems kick a$$ for competitions, my next setup will be strictly for Sound Q so I won't have these issues. I love the quality of the sound I get from the carputer, way better than any aftermarket CD player I've ever had. If anyone wants to check it out go to: www.chappysplace.com/chapaudio
and check out the install gallery. I will put up pics from the last couple shows I did, pretty soon.

Thanks for all the info I have gotten from this site.

6 12" audiobahn natural sound subs on a audiobahn 1300hc amp. I was a little dissapointed but the guys said the meter was running about 3-4db low. I wanted to hit higher but the subs are sealed and with my car so small I cant get the low bass to hit real hard with the windows up. windows down I shake everything for like 2 blocks. Businesses in town here hate me

    Sounds alright dude...
but i dont get it why use crappy meter like that at sound comps. 3-4dbs is alot of difference when it comes to high dbs.
last year I was in our local state sound comp. end up getting 144.8dbs (without bass testing CD... i forgot to take it to sound comp. haha ... end up playing Shar's song) , got second place as well.
It was in the toyota starlet with 2 15" Clarions... the Amp... i got no idea how many whats it was or what brand but i asume it was 250x4...

Well for 12s you did alright

friend of mine got 142.1dbs (3rd place) with 2 12" Infinities (the best closed box subs)

Higher frequency sounds (mids and highs) damage hearing more than subs. I have a pioneer premeir 300x1 and a JL10W0 in my car, my father is an ear doctor, he just checks the gain on the amp every once in a while to make sure i dont have it up too loud.

Mp3pc it depends what sort of music you like listening to...
15" can give out lower frequency bass then 12s... so if you listen to dance or trance it wouldnt sound as good as 12" or 10"
but if you like R&B or Rap then 15s is the way to go!

I listen to RAP alot I once had 15s but traded them for 12s. I just dont like the sound of 15s. And they are to big to build a correct size box for the average car.
