I'd go with the front, then it's a short distance to your glove box. It might even be close enough to extend some ide cables for the dvd.
Also I know with my old bettle, under the backseat was a huge mess, lots of seat stuffing all over
Thou the front did leak water and collect alot of condesation. An old car is not the best place for electronics

I am also building an MP3 Pc into a bug, The main section of it will go in the boot at the front, but I am hoping to build a custom dash with the cd-rom drive set into the dash to allow it to be easily accesed, you could do the same with your DVD drive, and have your display unit flip down to reveal the dvdrom drive, this would look very nice especially if your DVD is a slot drive.

    Just a thought.

Also it won't leak, just get the car in good shape, put some new seals in and it will keep the water out fine. They were well built after all , otherwise there wouldnt be nearly so many left.

Hey, I'm also putting a computer in my '77 std. bug. Not quite sure how everything's going to work out, but I've got a bunch of ideas flying around in my head.
