I think that it is safe to say that if you buid these things that every single person who had previously wanted AM in there car and had to go without (like me) would purchase one, download the plans or buy a kit

I don't know that much about mobile FM receivers, I did notice some improvement on my D-Link FM Receiver, when I started messing with the two green coils on the board, and how I spaced them appart, but you can't sit drive, and space, when you want to search for a channel

What I am thinking, is that why not tear appart one of the "Walkman" FM tuners, and replace the manual tuning mechanisim with a USB interface... ???

I'm going to ask some stupid questions here.
    Sorry for that.

Would this device work with the implemented tuner app in MediaCar?
What's the difference with the hardware used with MediaCar nowdays?
What does the tuner app in MediaCar anyway?
Becouse the only setting you can change is 'mute when exiting'.
So were goes the signal when i 'push' a button in Mediacar?
To a Com port? or USB?
    Or maybe PCI?
I know that the last question doesn't belong here...
But were to post it else, i didn't wanto start a new thread for it.
I'm a total noob at this part.
    Sorry, one question more.
Would an TV-Radio tuner card bassicly do the same job?

How about getting a deal struck with Ziplock, that should it come to pass, it is sold exclusivley sold either direct from the maker or through the MP3car shop, and no other sources (for a set say 2 year period).

Should keep it small enough to be manageable, then after that period, if a production system for parts, kits, and full builds is available, MP3Car can bid for reseller status like everyone else.

if you make it USB for AM and FM, under decent price, count me in for at least 1, most likely 2.

Correct again. The TEF6700HL output is IF (FM/AM) and should be processed using TDA1599T (FM) and TDA1572T (AM). These ic's are part of the demodulation circuitry and I didn't count them in the first place. Sorry for the confusion. (Thanks for the correction rando )

I have attached the reference design by philips of the tuner/demodulation circuit. Our design is almost identical to the reference . This is almost 80% of the circuit (RDS decoder and USB I/O missing).

Nice thoughts there Skraggy_uk. Are you a merchant or something?
Anyway I wouldn't mind to give it exclusively to Mp3Car.com but I believe this is not the time for such discussions. For now let's focus on making this happen.

    Thanks

Makes sense now ... er uh ... as much sense as any AM/FM radio schematic would to me.

When do you think that you will have a working prototype?... i think that the success of this hinges on the integration to the major front ends. Once you have all of the bugs nailed down you should send out three of them. One to frodo, one to Media Engine and one to MMC or Coyote (if he is still developing which i doubt)

If it is integrated into the players than people will flock to this item besides the fact that it is AM and RDS
