Thread: moving puter to trunk, need suggestions for hardware

Dude, if your amps are too hot for touch, then you have other issues you need to address before moving your computer to the boot.
In my tenure with car stereos I've found that if you can not hold your hand on the amp for more than 7 seconds without pulling it back due to pain then you are in trouble, they should not be that hot, even if the source of the heat is external... and it is isn't it? The amps are hot because your trunk is acting as an oven? If that's not the case then please check your setup.

Yeah that does seem kind of hot, I can drive with the music turned up for 6 or so hours and still put my hand on the amps.

i think the trunk is indeed like an oven at this point... 2000 watts rms of ampage gets things pretty steamy in there, was just asking if anyone had thought of some clever avenue of exhaust from the trunk of yer average car

2000RMS still shouldn't be causing that much heat.
Please check into it.
As for your question about exhausting ones boot, I really can't come up with any cleaver ideas other than dropping the seats and rolling down the windows to circulate air. Your 80mm fans might work, but keep in mind the effects of positive/negative pressure and how that might affect the "junk in the trunk". I think you'll probably want to go with positive pressure in the boot, just running the idea thru my noggin makes me think it would probably be the best bet.
Ever think about running some sort of duct from your AC unit into the boot and attaching an 80mm fan to the end of it to help pull the cold air in? Using that in combination with your 80mm exhaust fans might be a plausable idea.
