Talking The new case is coming along...

It would have been perfectly clear had the lady at Home Depot told me that adhesive remover would eat through plexi glass. She thought if its safe for wood and metal it would be safe for plastic. lol. Oh well.

Bruce usually guards my freezer, but today he is modeling for my new case. All that is missing in this pic is the IDE cables, and nothing is connected yet. I still have plenty of room for a wireless USB in there too.

I like how the HD is mounted vertically to the top and bottom of the case with standoffs.

Yeah I have 2 fans on order, I think I'll use one on the case and put the other behind the screen.

But I may use both on the case as I originally intended.

ID put some type of rubber bvump stops on the drive retainers, just to help give it some shock protection.

It just screws into the top and bottom of the case. I'll take more pics tonight or tomorrow when the fan goes in.

I notice you are using some sort of glue/ solvent (weld on #16???) to bind the acrylic together. It seems you did a messy job on one part. I had this problem with the case that i built and so i sand blasted it to give it a frosted look. Plus when the lights glowed through it looked amazing. You might want to give that a try.

Yeah I used epoxy, but it didnt work well on the lid where I mounted the DVD drive. So I got adhesive remover from Home Depot (told it was safe for plexi) and it was not. Tried to eat right through it. So that one part is jacked. But I'm OK with it, I sanded it down and mounted the DVD anyways. I might get some vinyl and sticker the top or something. I wont see it once its installed anyways.

The joint could be smoother too, but this is my first case, and no matter what my first everything is always rough looking... lol

Take the piece of plexi back and demand your money back because of one of thier workers supplying incorrect information. I think I know how you did it now, you screweed the screw-in side of the stand off's into the hard drive, and then put screws on the outside of the plexi?? If so I like that idea.
