I'm jealous of you people with garages and/or driveways

I live in northern jersey across the river from Manhattan. I just got a parking spot at a lot about a 12 min walk from my apartment.

I'm not really complaing b/c I lived in Manhattan the past 2 years and could not have my car at all.

But as for building a carputer, it can really be a pain in the ***. First of all I live on the 4th floor of a walk up so I gotta bring my stuff and tools up and down and walk back and forth between the parking lot when I forget stuff. My room looks like a garage with the floor covered with newspapers (nice wood floors!) And working on a car on a busy street can be dangerous when I drive the car and park it on the street/

They say you're only as your tools (or your working environment). Man am I jealous of you people with garages and real tools where you can fabricate and download stuff with a 10 foot walk.

Of course I wouldn't give up city life for rural life.

if you have a friend with a garage, go over his house and do the work.

yeh..but you know it is. Carputers are something you like to work on here and there. Like when you have an idea, or test something out, you're not willing to wait for the weekend. At least that is how I am.

    I hear you!

This was some days ago when I was working on one of my motorbikes. It started to rain 3 times (yes, I live in Belgium)...

I think its mostly suburbs and probably more rural (It is the Garden State)

But I decided that if I wasn't going to live in the city, I would live as colse as possible and still have that city feeling. I'm also a 12 min train ride (PATH) to work (downtown NYC)

And yeh, I got stuff working on my car in the street in the rain this week. It sucked.

    New Jersey mostly rural?

    http://www.50states.com/facts/newjerse.htm

"2. New Jersey has the highest population density in the U.S. An average 1,030 people per sq. mi., which is 13 times the national average.

    3. New Jersey has the highest percent urban population in the U.S. with about 90% of the people living in an urban area.

    5. New Jersey is the only state where all its counties are classified as metropolitan areas.

    14. New Jersey is a leading industrial state and is the largest chemical producing state in the nation.

    30. New Jersey has 108 toxic waste dumps. Which is the most in any one state in the nation."

Just a few reason why I love NJ so much.....

    mykolJay,
I'm also in NNJ work out of secacus... theres lots of stuff in the area.. and even if you go another 10-20 minutes west you can always hop on the bus that will take you right to the terminal by the tunnel.. theres plenty of comuter stuff... used to go to school in NYC.. and was on the bus every morning then hoped on the subway ...
theres always options.... however remember NJ is wierd... some towns don't let you park on the street overnight.. and that sucks...
