problems with M10000 and WD 80GB HD

Has anyone had problems running their m10000 with a WD 80 GB HD w 8MB cache?

I recently tried running my carpc and got a stop error when trying to run windows 2k. After multiple attempts of unistalling and reinstalling win 2k and XP even, still no workie. I couldn't get the install to go past the dos portion to the windows portion of the install. Then I tried using my old Epia 8000 with a known good WD 80GB 8MB from my home computer (win 2k) and I got NTLDR not found message. Flash of bios on both epia's did nothing, change of IDE ribbon cables did nothing, changing mem sticks did nothing.

Finally I get to work today and on a whim decide to throw in a Maxtor 40GB and installation has gotten all the way past changing timezones and naming the computer and everything.

BTW diagnostic tests show nothing wrong with either 80GB HD, but trying to use CarPC HD in home computer causes Stop screen.

So I was just checking to see if anyone else had similar probs.

what kind of power supply are you using?

i found low power or 'noisy' power is a big problem with carpc's.

I used the DC-DC power supply for M10000 I got from this site I believe. I also tried using it with a 350w Enermax ps and an older Compaq ps, didn't work with any. Now I have uninstalled WinXP and reinstalled 2k on this 40GB I found and have had no problems (tried all 3 power supplies too).
