Audigy 2 NX- Choppy or not on Epias. Post feedback

    Hi all,

ive been hearing mixed feedback about just how much CPU these usb cards use and just how much it affects feedback on lesser powerful boards such as the Via M10000. I can see why the unit cant be a little bigger and it does the EAX HD processing on there..... but anyway.

Post ya configs and your experiences and weel see how it goes.

    cheers

    Jamie

i have only bench tested mine so far, and yes, the EAX and the unit itself, does seem to gobble up about 30% proccessing power. Am yet to test it in the car, with a nice CPU and display card hogging visual plugin to really work it.
If i cant have my pretty visual plugin in my car... all because of some sound card my life will be lost! *sob*

altho, it is 24bit 6 chan.....comprimises comprimises! LOL

I use the NX nad M10k and have never noticed any chopiness. I haven't done DVD playback so i can't say if it gets choppy at that point or not. There are a few things about the NX I don't like though. The mic and line-in inputs are shared. You can use one or the other, not both. The master volume reverts to 100% upon resume from suspend or hibernation.

well i just tried the dvd audio demo disc that comes with the audigy nx 2 in the car with a M10000 and it cant even play it. Very dissapointed. in fact it sux.
I dont have any other programs going, have the USB cable for the sound card in a dedicated port, and the 6ch dvd audio sounds totally messed up and choppy. ive tried tweaking heaps of things and no good. Unless there is something i am missing. Anyone else with this sort of setup had similar results? or any success getting it better?

    cheers.

check your drivers, there's a version of drivers/firmware that originally shipped w/it which was usb 1.0, but they have updated ones for usb 2.0 on the web

i kept w/the usb 1 due to the fact it had less problems dealing w/standby

btw... their customer support sucks on really technical issues....

I hate to gloat but wouldn't it be a better idea to use the SPDIF port on the M10k and out put it to a Surround Sound Processor such and the Panasonic CYAC300-EX. It is a little more expensive than a high end soundcard but you get DTS decoding along with Dolby digital and Prologic and no silly processor/resource/standby problems

    Just a thought

I have the NX2 and never any issues with it. Run 6 channel audio off it right into an amp and even playing dvd's I never see alot of cpu usage.
