After using a character display for awhile, I decided that a 4" TFT just wasn't much more expensive than a good character display.
I think most people like the 4x20 best though, as most of the software was written for that size.
What sizes of character displays do you people have/recommend???
40x4? 20x4? 20x2? 16x4?
just curious.
feedback is mucho appreciated.

i have a 4x40 an i absolutely love it, only downfall is its a pretty big and bulky in my car, but i've adjusted.
I have a 20x4.
Works great, not too big, not too small and it displays all the info I need.
Abuot the 4 inch TFT being about the same price? Please, if you have a stock of them that you are selling for 12 dollars, please share with the board.
That is all.

UPDATE: I moved farther north. Now its even too cold for the deer; only moose now
I'm running a 20x4 Futaba VFD. Very easy to see at any time of day, and not too big. Fits nicely in my ashtray, and just flips up out of view so no one knows it is there.

Old Systems retired due to new car
New system at design/prototype stage on BeagleBoard.
I have a 40x2, This fits my car perfectly and there is no need to have song titles, etc scrolling. I tookout the cig. socket and the ashtray and it fits infront of those fine.

I have the 40x4 parallel port version.
Use Lorty's plugin to winamp. Spectrum analyser display etc.
I too removed the ashtray and cigarette lighter...it looks like a factory install. (pure luck)
I have the 20x4 from BGMicro, works great!

40x4. Fits almost exactly in a "over the console" shell that comes with the more expensive models of the Chevy, so I bought the plastic case and glued the display on it.
I would like to know where you found the 20x4 for 12$ and what did you use to adapt it to a port.
