    World Radio

    Alright guys here it goes.

I have heard of a radio, that can pick up radio station from around the world. I don't think such a device exist. Is there such a thing? I know you can have world band radio, which can tune to all frequencies, but I don't think I can pick up a station in russia while sitting in san francisco.

I guess we can log on to the web and pick upstations, but I am talking about a radio that does not plug to the net. A portable wireless unit. Does this exist? If so, got a link?

You're probably thinking of shortwave radio. Shortwave is basically a frequency band between AM and FM. An Ars Technica article that talks about what shortwave is and how to integrate it with your PC can be found here.
