    I got problems...

Ok, So the usb connector on my gps mouse got bent at a 45 degree angle on accident. So I bent it back straight and popped open my trunk to plug it back in.

My motherboard is not in a case, So I put my hand on the metal casing of the usb ports to give force as I plugged the usb connector back in (the carputer was on) and all of the sudden everything shuts off.

So I power down and back up again, but it won't power up, The computer will try to start up (cpu fan/ computer fan will spin up) for a second, and then stop. Then start up for a second, then stop. Just pulsing like that.

I havent had a chance to try a cmos or anthing on it yet, but was just wondering what yalls opinon would be on what my problem is? any ideas?

I shorted by USB ports before, nothing bad happened. I also don't think it could be static. Probably not receiving enough power.

    1) reset your bios, sounds like your onboard VGA isn't healthy
    2) try a PCI VGA card
    3) replace your mobo, it may be fried.

    No.... don't replace anything (yet)

Make sure your memory is pushed in all of the way. Make sure all cables and connectors are properly snugged in.

    Let you computer rest overnight.

You could pop in a PCI video card to see if you actually booting up into windows but you just cant see it...(bad video?)

It is possible that your motherboard could be fried, I would take it out if its case and examine it closly to look for burnt componants or black marks.

Ask in the power supply forum what the three pules means for the Opus, This may help diagnos the problem

    Good Luck

i had a bad usb cable once. didnt know it untill michine wouldnt boot.
the mb was only a month old so the company exchanged it for a new one.
put it all back together and saw a spark when i pluged in the cable. and the cable got real hot like right now. unpluged it and swap cables and all was good. called the guy that sold the mb and cable ( thank god it was the same place and time for both).
when he had sent out the mb for exchange thay said the voltage regulator was bad.
he was glad to find out it was the cable becouse they would not exchange it and he would be out a mb. the mb was a gigabyte p4.

okay, Here's abit more detail, as my last post was rushed.

The symptons are very similar to a previous problem,

    Fried mobo->ALIVE- Opus to blame,
and the Fried MB thread on that forum.

    similiar as in:

    VGA goes blank,
    EVerything spins up,
No "windows" noise (So I know it's not actually starting up all the way),

Last time it just fixed itself when i hooked it up to a ac-dc powersupply and then back...

I'll give that a try, but it's a bit concerning that the problem is repetitive...

P.S. (The 3 flashes is gone, the problem has progressed to the Blank VGA/boot problem.
