What about switching to an inverter with a built in battery? You can get a 300watt inverter with battery (reburbished) here for $95. There would be a few advantages - the battery would provide power to the VCR to keep it going while the car is off, plus if you wanted to run the computer while the car was off then the inverter battery would power it saving your car battery. Finally, if you ever completely drain the car battery using the computer, the battery powered inverter could give you a jump!
When the car is turned on, the car battery will power the inverter and recharge the inverter's battery.
Just a thought...
Mike.

Im going by there this afternoon, I will see what they have in stock.
Thanks for the link. I'll check it out. That would be great if you could see what they have in person.
Ok I went by yesterday, man I love that place.. I just wana buy everything.
they have an ok deal on 4" lcd's 99.00 anyhow-
They do have a tuner moduel, it has an rf antenna connector on the back, an av / composit out. this would work quite well for a tuner on an lcd. if your video card has composit in, you could hook to that, or use a switch and hook directly to lcd.
The module is a good size (fairly small) and for the price - beats the hell out of alpine or similar. I didnt examin the power source, It had a transformer block, Im sure its 9-12 vDC .
the only downside - I didnt see a remote ( altough it might have an option for one. if someone really wanted to, they could easily wire push buttons to the chanel selector on it.
they currently sell for 79.00
hmmmm... I'd have to have a remote.
