Look for pin #1 on the adapter, then align the pin with the red stripe on the side of the cable. Looking from the rear of the unit with the notch on the adapter pointing up the cable should plug in to the left.
I know there are 100s of posts about that damn Apple adapter, which doesn't stick out, but I can't find anyone which answers my question. I have an Apple CD/DVD adapter board (the original one, which doesn't stick out) and it converts the 50 pin JAE plug to a 50 pin IDE plug. Should I attach my IDE cable to the first 40 pins or the last 40 pins (left or right - if possible)?
