just curious, did you power the unit after you heard parts rattling around?
Also, did you connect a usb cable to the monitor itself, or the input cable?
Sounds like the touch controller came loose from the lcd controller, and made contact with other portions of the lcd controller. You let the smoke out, so it sounds like you toasted the Lilli.

Sorry, should have made it clearer - one of my team unpacked it and powered it all up first and discovered that it wasnt working. He re-packaged it and I said I'd take a look later.

I noticed the rattling in the unit later when I decided to have a look at it myself.

The USB was connected as per the instructions, so cant see that there was any problems with the conections.

Personally I think the USB connection is possibly a red hering and that it was simply that the screen was running for a very short period of time prior to the screen stopping working - probably due to whatever it is rattling inside the unit.

Does anyone know if I can get this sorted in the UK, rather than have to have it returned to the USA?

The touch controller is attached (very loosely) to the lcd controller by 2 small machine screws. Sounds like they came loose, and the touch controller is moving freely inside. Just a heads up, Lilliput monitors are junk. They are poorly assembled, use very cheap parts, and have a used LCD screen.

Yeah, beware the fake non-usb usb connector on the Lilliput...

On the PC we connected 1 x VGA cable with USB control cable offshoot and the other end to the round connector on the screen.

The package also came with a long extension lead, USB, Video jacks etc. The USB connector of this was connected to the screen, however none of the other connectors on this lead were attached to devices or power on this cable - hence the theory that the connecting of this must have been a red herring.

Our company has a good deal of experience of installing incar systems, ( for example http://www.scoobyworld.co.uk/trolleyed/democar.htm ) and ceretain this is not a problem with the installation.

Are the Lilliput screens generally regarded as Junk? I hope not!

Fake USB Non USB connector??? The instructions are prety poor for this device.

Finally - why does the Jurassic Park logo appear on the screen during startup?

Yeah, the connector that LOOKS like it's USB but is actually power/RCA. I keep thinking someone's going to get an A-A cable to it and fry their motherboard...

So it appears that the screen is second hand, hence the burnt in Jurassic park logo on startup

Also, poor quality components , as I've found out when trying to install the very first one we've had in.

Final question is - I have a contact number for MP3Car.com but not sure what timezone their office is - can anyone tell me so I know what time to call and sort this out? I assume I should be able to have them collect this unit and refund the cost.
