Post Anyone Ever Heard of the LP3 MP3 Decoder?

I was surfing around today and came upon this product. Their website is here http://lp3music.com/ (it has been down a lot so keep trying) They sell a parralel port device that does hardware decoding of MP3's so that your computer doesnt have to, which would eliminate skipping while accessing the hard drive or opening other documents while playing mp3's. Also it has its own audio out which is external, so they claim there is no interfearance from the internals of the computer like disk drive noise or any type of humm from other components. You dont even need a sound card to play mp3 either, but I figure you wiil need a sound card to play other sounds on your sytstem becuse all it does is play mp3's only. They claim you can play mp3's on a 386! It goes for $99 but I hear it takes about a month to get a hold of one. Any comments?

I have have one and I will say that the claim that you can play mp3s on a 386 are true. I have done this with dos only. Sound is good some limitations on the bitrate. The linux client software does have a bug, cuts off the song before the end.

I have had mine for about a year so I don't know about the availablity of it. On the whole a cool little gaget that does some serious work.

I plan on using this with either a 386 or 486 SBC running linux.
