Hey, I posted a bunch of stuff on I-Bus forums and here but nobody responded, will the i-bus work on my e36? I know I dont have the buttons but I dont really care about that, the main thing Id like to acomplish is intercepting messages from the obc or/and sending them. Ps How do you even hook up that controler? ;>

    Regards,
    Tom

    Hi everyone
I too would like to know does the Rover 75 use the I-Bus system ? Its supposed to be the same as used on the BMW 3 series.
My Rover 75 is a 2000 year build so i would assume its much like a similar year 3 series, it has the screen ( small version ) head unit. navigation drive as i have seen used in the 3 series.
Also how would i connect the ibus controller/adaptor ?
    Thank you

It makes the Carputer so much better to use to be honest.. full control of the volume is a must. I also mapped the up/down to curser up/down.. the RT key to 'enter' and the Phone button to the Esc key.. but you can map these to any buttons you want.. I'm using mediacar atm, but you can map it to anyone.

I have attached the file.. let me know if anyone needs help

Remember folks, if you run out of serial ports, you can get a USB->Serial adapter! They cost $20-$30 and add a serial port via a USB connector.

How do you map those buttons to Frodoplayer? or any programs? I have my ibus connected and shows that its working button cant get the volume to change or mute

can you post your .ini file? or give example how to map to different apps.

    Thank you

Your e36 will have iBus if it is a 96 or after. Should be in the trunk where the CD changer is. I don't think it was used as extensively on our e36s as it was on the e46 and other newer models.

MGR Boy - Can't tell you for certain, but I'd imagine you do have iBus in your Range Rover. Look it up on the internet and find out...

I got mine from the Cd changer harness. Nice little three prong connector that slips right onto the PCB from Resler. Here is a Pic on my thread....
