Hey i just got my I bus controller in the mail today and went out and got my serial cable. Just have a question though....i am using the aux adaptor for my audio....which i plug into the cd changer cables. The only thing im wondering is my car has a set of cables that is for the audio..but then it also has another set of cables...these cables are different though...one of the cables is alot bigger and thicker..and also has a cable that would work for my ibus. So which cables do i use with this controller....do i unplug the little ibus connecter that my audio aux adaptor has plugged in...or do i use these other cables that has a little connecter for an i bus. that may seem very confusing so let me know if you need me to take a picture of it. Other question i have is this ibus controller has 4 prongs.....and these i bus cables in the trunk have 3 prong slots...which side do i plug these into?....thanks guys

yea it has 4 prongs...on one side it says IBUS GND and on the other side it says +12v NTSC...do i unplug the ibus wire from my audio aux adaptor and plug it into this controller..or do i take the other ibus wire and use that..the one that comes with the giant plug..im assuming its my phone controller one or something..not sure

I just checked the website and it appears that he has released a new version that has an NTSC switch built on (the fourth pin). Don't use the pin labeled "NTSC" for our application.

I don't quite understand your other question about which plug to use. You can use any plug that has +12V, Ground, and IBUS on it - this is usually the CD changer wire (which you have hooked up to an AUX input it sounds like).

yea exactly...the cd changer plug has an i bus cable and the audio cable...im assuming that the audio cable gives the ability for sound..and the other cord in the aux adaptor allows my cd player to switch to CD..and then show 6-1 for the first aux..and 6-2 for the 2nd aux..unless that i-bus plug has nothing to do with that aux adaptor..i'll take a pic if you wanna see how its setup..thanks alot for helping me out..let me know

    thanks

I just throught I'd throw this link into this forum as I found it very useful compared to the serial IBUS interface. They have pretty descent documentation also and having a USB IBUS interface can be VERY handy when you are stuck with a serial port GPS and don't have another serial port to use. Check it out! http://www.eedesignkits.com

Wish I'd known about this earlier - although I was able to find a serial-usb converter and get it to work.

I've been using ibus for months now and it works flawlessly...i did have one incident though...

...it came loose and i plugged it back in quickly...well, i guess i got the prongs turned around because my car almost caught on fire. Without boring you all with details...please double check before plugging in the ibus to make sure that your doing it correctly or else every button press will send sparks until you realize ur engulfed in smoke with a flame under your seat.

I had a quick question. Has anyone gotten ibus to work with windows media player? I have it working with RR just fine, but I like to use media player from time to time because the visualizations are much smoother and more visually appealing. Is there any way to get ibus to work with both RR and media player so that i don't have to change the ini file everytime?
