I'm sure you may have read my post below about that horrible USB soundcrap that has a horrendous amount of signal static... I was wondering if anyone knows of a good Signal to Noise ratio for a sound card. I found some USB devices that have 90db SNR and I was wondering if it was good enough to not notice the noise.

anything over 88db should be fine. most CD players range from about 87-92db. However, the static that you are talking about may still be present in the USB sound card due to the fact that it is outside the case and may set up a ground loop.
hmm... well when I hooked it up, there couldn't be any ground loop since I was using head phones... that was another thing... Even with headphones the full-blast volume of this USB device was really really LOW... if it were louder I'd say it was okay since teh data would be much louder than the static... but.. argh :-(
