well actually find a car that does it, go down the scrappy and see if there are any there.![]()
In Europe, some cars have an ability when the turn signal switch is depressed, but not locked into place, to blink 3 times and then stop. Used for switching lanes on the highway and what not. Kind of a momentary blink.
Is there a way I can make something that will do this for my car? Where I would slight depress the turn signal level to activate the light, and then be able to let go and have them blink 3 times?
??? Electrical guru's please advise.

You could use the turn signal switch to activate a 555 timer with enough up time to get your three blinks in (or however many you want) or something similar. You then connect the output of the 555 timer to a relay to the blinker. The issue you might run into is when you are actually turning, the blinker will most likely blink three times even after you have turned the blinker switch off.

The major problem I see with doing this is that on most newer cars, the switch controlling the blinker does not directly connect to the light. They normally go through a BCM first that takes inputs from a range of devices then figures out what to do with those signals to turn them into commands for other devices. i.e. the hazards button, alarm, and turn signal control the blinkers on my car all going through the BCM first. You can do what your asking, but you will either lose this other functionality or have to bypass the BCM for the 3 blinks and only the 3 blinks and hope it doesnt mess with the other signals sent from the BCM.

The only thing to remember, is that when the blinker is on... you hear the blinker clicking. Thus, there is a blinker someplace that you can interface with and ignore the rest of the PCM connections.
