Not sure even an Opus 150W will power all that. You might need additional fans to help cool that too. I suspect underclocking may be required.
Mobo: iBase MB870 http://www.ibase-i.com.tw/mb870.htm
CPU: Intel Pentium 4 Prescott 2400/533 Mhz
1 Gb DDRAM Crucial
HDD: 1) SATA 200 Gb MAXTOR 7.200 RPM 8MB
2) 2,5" HDD 40GB
PCI Wireless Lan (not sure yet)
Case: Travla C137
Display: Xenarc 700 TSV
External Plextor DVD\CD\RW
USB Creative Audigy 2 NX
USB HUB
USB GPS
USB TV\FM Tuner
USB IR for phone control
USB ATI Remote Wonder
CCD Rear View Camera
And, ofcourse, to power all this up, the Opus 150 W PSU.
At first, I thought I should go with the Epia M12000, but I could use more power so I thought I'll get the Intel, but my main concern is heat. Where I live the max temp is around 40dgr C. I hope it'll survive. How do Intel mini itx systems perforn in a car in terms of heat?
Please give me your suggestions about the setup.
Thanks, Cris.

Yes I thought about underclocking, but could it be enough? What kind of temp does an Intel CPU produce?
Why on earth do you have 1gb of ram and a presscot?

Because it'll be a PITA to power?Originally Posted by Cris

Well from personal experience as i do extreme over clocking Prescott isn’t 2 much better than Northwood and that is proven but 1 think is that Prescott gives out a **** lots of heat and also it drains the power like a slutOriginally Posted by Cris
myn my language but in any case Prescott works little fast as the pipeline of the cpu are designed differently than Northwood. But from personal use as I got 2 Prescott cpus and 3 Northwood I would never use Prescott on the mini computers
I'm planning a quasi-powerful system as well. But what you're going for is going to cause you headaches, I predict.Originally Posted by Cris
1) Power draw. You didn't say anything about video, and the mobo you chose has onboard video, so that's a plug, I guess.
2) Heat. You mentioned it yourself. 40C = 104F, which is DAMNED HOT. And that's just external temps. In-car temps can get much higher.
I'm approaching it from the standpoint of getting the most power while producing the least amount of heat and sucking downt he least amount of power.
My solution: Mobile AthlonXP. They use less power, and as a reult, produce less heat. Is it going to eliminate ALL my headaches? No, just prevent one big one.
Good luck, man. I hope you can pull it off, but I've got my doubts...
Yes, all of you are right. Maybe if I used a Pentium M, but then I would have to change the mobo; I was just so happy with this board, becouse it uses ATI graphics, and has Serial ATA. Oh well, I'm back where I started: Epia M12000. I won't be able to play Doom 3 but in the end the carputer is for music, navigation, and others, but not for games. Still confused if I should use 1 Gb of Ram or 512. Is the difference noticeble?
And you are right again: 40 C is very hot, although it's pretty rare. When the car stays in the sunlight, inside there are about 60 dgr, which is really hot.
