move the receaver so it is close to window.
or move the airial. (this is asuming it is wireless)
I have keyless entry in my truck. Just the door locks. When I unlock the doors, the interior lights come on. I'm thinking about wiring a relay to the lights and having it switch on the computer while i'm still outside the car. As long as my car survives crank, it would let me start my computer earlier, and it would be ready to go roughly the same time I'm settling into my seat and starting my truck.
So my question is this. How can I extend the range of my car's remote. I'm not looking to start it from the next town, just 20 feet or so. Right now it only works about 15 feet away. I know that's crap because Iwe've all used remote door locks before and some work from 100 feet away. Other than changing to a fresh battery, what can I do?

Put the remote up to your temple and point it towards the car
Seriously, it worked on Top Gear, they increased the range of one about 3 fold by doing that!

I thought you were supposed to put it under your chin
god_of_cpu wired something like this up, wiring relays directly to the keyless entry system. http://g35driver.com/forums/showflat...view=&sb=&vc=1
you might be able to do something similar. I think connecting it to the lights might be a problem. I don't know your car, but I would make sure that you know exactly when the lights come on and go off (my interior lights come on again when I turn off the car, etc).
I think it might be easier and more beneficial if you try to get your computer to boot up faster, how long does it take you to start it up?
It's not the wiring thats the problem, thats easy. Boot is ~23 seconds with POST and BIOS and XP Pro. That's fine.
But if I can get it to start 15 seconds before I'm in the car. Then it takes me 5 or so to get in and get my *** settled into my seat and the car started. Uncover the screen and poof, it should be up and waiting.
The issue is How can I extend the range of my keyless entry remote?
I have a viper alarm with remote start and 6-channel outputs.. I use one for clima, one for neons, one for opening trunk, one for amp racks, one for carpc (also with remote start)...
This gives me an open range of 250m... That's good!!!
but if I want more?how can I turn on the pc with another way?? Maybe with a phonecall or something?? I don't have any free PCI and not an onboard dial-up modem!!!![]()
What kind of keyless do you have? Factory, Aftermarket? If you have factory your solution is to get an aftermarket setup, I would recommend DEI. If you have an aftermarket solution and you only have 15 ft. of range you're pretty SOL and will probably need a better solution. Maybe a better aftermarket system.
