Wink Laptop vs MINI ITX PC

Hi all. Just wanted to hear some opinions about the advantage of using MII 10000 board vs a regular IBM Thinkpad (lets say... t22). You can get a used T22 on eBay for about... 300-400 dollars. You WILL spend much more money building a custom computer and from what I understand P III 900 (in T22) will outperform VIA Processor.

I don't mean to be a "hater" but what fun is that? How do you plan to intergrate into your car audio? I can't image that "holder" and wires hanging everywhere are going to look very good.

The main reason that I would change my setup (a laptop) is that you are pretty much stuck with what comes with it, at least for video. The video card in my laptop is crap, and I REALLY dont like having everythign streched in windows (powerstrp doesn't support the video card). I am also getting some noise (fairly minor) from the HDD that I can't seem to get rid of, even with an external soundcard, though I don't know if this is specifically related to the laptop

I have a laptop with a broken screen, so it is (going to be, when I figure out how to do it) permanently mounted and hidden from view. I opened up the case and I have wire connected to the screen sensor and the power switch, giving me a lot of options for controlling startup/shutdown/suspend/hibernate.
Because it runs off an internal battery, I dont have to worry about cranking issues. Laptops are generally designed with lower power components, though I have no idea what the difference in power draw is. Depending on the computer, you can get dc-dc power supplys fairly cheaply.

I was looking for a tablet pc too and fujitsu stylistic 3500 sounds good. What about the "sound" output, have u ever try to play DVD/DIVX on it? What about the pen?

My last carputer was an EPIA/Opus configuration which was great. My new one however will be a laptop.

I think that the EPIA/Opus solution is superior, more flexible, and more fun. However my new car is notorious for eating battery, so I don't want to risk draining it further. Also the boot (trunk) is so small that I don't have space for a secondary battery to aleviate this.

So, a laptop with port replicator and lilliput up front it is. Just need to get me a laptop now.

Car changed for TVR Griffith 500, so computer de-installed. Using a Dension 100ix w/60Gb HD unit in the interim.
