Heh, that probably would have been an option (anthough expensive) pre-russian takeover, but things are a-changing at the factory now!Originally Posted by Enforcer

Jury's still out on that one. They are actually making changes to improve quality control, and seeking new premises in Blackpool. The question is whether they dilute the brand by building a "cheap entry-level" model, and make the marque a common site. We shall see.Originally Posted by Enforcer
On the installation front, I'm now pondering the sun-visor approach. Gonna see if I can get hold of a spare for cheap, and take my stanley knife to it
Other option is to have it behind the drivers seat, mounted and with a carpet-cover. Only thing with this is it would be strictly queue-up-mp3's-whilst-stationary, then close it off and go - probably no real advantage over a laptop on the passenger seat! Would be quite cool to have an upholstered screen, though![]()

Wow! Now that's a beautiful car! I've never seen one of those before. It's quite a piece of art. Good luck with your install, I have no clue how I'd do it. Also, as a sidenote, I used to have an in-dash monitor from my old setup and it shook all the time. However, you probably have a smoother ride than my Rodeo....so it might not be a problem for you. I used to have a convertible - and I miss it a lot. I have t-tops in my Z, but it's just not the same and it's more of a hassle to take them out and put them back in, then it was to push a button and have open air.
Mount it on the centre console behind the gearstick/park brake? Though you would want a fully swivellable mount so that you can see it or fold it flat down.
BTW, i have a regular 7" LCD with the indash housing that DigitalWW sells, and they are very sturdy - moreso than the pioneer/kenwood etc motorised jobbies. Best thing is that when folded in, they are quite stealthy and hard to spot as a screen.
It's hard to get a good idea of the shape of that dash with just one pic from one angle, but perhaps fiberglassing a place for the LCD that conforms to the shape of the dash, perhaps above the three "guages" to the left of the steering wheel?Originally Posted by GingerPrince
Kind of hard to explain, so something like this is what I'm thinking:
S2000 Carputer Finnished!!
Just a flat fiberglass layer conformed to the shape of the dash on that part of it, then a spare lilliput (or xenarc, or whatever) housing positioned, cloth stretched over it, fiberglassed, then painted/covered with leather/vinal/whatever.
Sorry if I don't make any sense, only slept about 3.5 hours last night, so not thinking too clear.![]()
That's really the only place I can think of... Sunvisor is an option I guess.
my idea would be to have one that sits on top of the dash, and then just pushes down. sort of a vetical slide out tray.
