    found thiss there:
    Parnass.org
tk92 - Experimental Software for Radio ShackŪ PRO-92 and PRO-2067 Scanners
Those interfaces are only for programming, not for controlling the scanners. Though the PRO-2067 is a great radio, I've got one in my dash right now

And depending on what state you live in, having a police scanner in your car can even be illegal.

I had the same problem here when the state policed switched over. I searched google, yahoo and found this site http://www.scannersandmore.com . Their prices are no where near $8,000 . I think the most expensive one they have is right under $600.00

Sounds like what you want is a SDR (Software Defined Radio).

Spent 0.37 seconds on Google and found the following:

    http://www.instructables.com/id/How-...Radio-Scanner/

Same thing only with more reference links
    https://sites.google.com/site/policescannerhowto/

Very interesting site that has many more uses for SDR's
