    Question morex 3688 + OPUS ?

    Hello,
I was just wondering... will the Morex 3688 fit the 90w OPUS power supply?
I know it comes with one, but I need to use the OPUS instead (it is bigger).

It looks like there's some extra space, but before I spend 80$, I want to make sure the OPUS will fit.

    Thanks!

the 90w will. WHat you do it remove the old psu then you insulate the underside on the DVD tray and mount the opus with blue tac or summink to the underside of the DVD tray. Its a ****in tight fit but ive done it and its not that hard. Just be carful not to knock any components off and ensure it dont short on anything. Thats why u insulate it. I knocked one component by accident and had to resolder it. Be especially carefuly with the ones nearest the little boards at the front, some on the opus can come close to touching them but when adjusted correctly they sit a good few mill from it. Also u will have a ATX power cable (big socket thing with loads of wires) ones with the opus and one with the case, use the one with the thinner wires, its easier to route round a capacitor on the front/right top corner of the board. The board can rest on the fan guard without fear of it hitting

This mounting method works will with a few cases it seems as i now have a diffrent one (Travala C136) and ive done the same.

    Hope it helps

    Jamie

LIVEtothemaxuk (Jamie) it seems you have a bolt on tthe back of the carputer, next to the hard drive...its the grounding for the case..qu: do you see any problems/flickering on the screen? is there any difference without the grounding of the case? and do u connect this ground wire to the same place your opus ground wire.

that bolt if you look closer is a metal 'hoop' for padlocking my case to the car.

Grounding is done also to the chassis, you can see id you follow the ground wire out of the opus i have screwed it to the case also using the standard ground point included withthe case.

What kindof material did you use to insulate the bottom of the DVD tray? It almost looks like regular tape. Also, do you have any heat problem with the Opus in the case?

Insulating tape. Two layers and no heat isnt a problem at all

I finally got my case and PSU and I'm ready to try what you did. But what is this blue tac or summink? I tried doing a search online for it since I've never heard of it, and I came up with blue window film tape. Is this what you used? And where could I get it at? (I'm assuming someplace like home depot).

Blutak, like you use to hold posters to walls when you don't want to leave pin holes from thumbtacks. Suppose you could use Playdoh/Sillyputty/Plastercine.
