    Rear camera view switcher (automatic)

Hey everyone, I saw this on cartft.com and realised that it would not be suitable for us, having a car pc installed since our main source of video is VGA.

    link to the video switcher

Has anyone created a circuit to modify the liliput/xenarc screen to make it auto swith to rear camera view when reverse gear is present and back to VGA after reversing?

I hope you have a go at it because i'm not very good at electronics and i think it would be a very interesting mod.

When I had my reverse camera installed I liked to have it on when I pressed the AV button.

Or else the screen will go on and off while you parrallel park when your shifting from 1st to Reverse.

Also it's nice to have on while your driving foward too. For fun.

Just a though...how about delaying the turning off of the reverse camera when you go into forward gear?

    Like :

Reverse gear > Reverse camera is displayed intantly.
Forward gear > Start a 10 sec countdown then the reverse camera goes off.

This way its very unlikely to get the reverse cam to go on/off unless you go in reveres/forward gear every more than 10secs. An aditional cancel button can be added on the touch screen if the you want to get to the normal screen without having to wait 10secs.

Maybe 5 secs countdown is good enough...5 secs in forward gear is enough to do the parking I think.

Me personally...Ill forget to flick that manual switch to see the reverse cam...and then forget to flick it back to normal screen

Why not use a web cam on USB...no need for a switch box and a composite out cam or a VGA screen with composite.

Its just the software that need sorting out

Search on here for "cheesebox" . Someone figured out how to modify it to do just that. You hook up the camera RCA source and a VGA source and it outputs VGA. When the button is pressed (modded with a relay to be automatic) the video takes over the VGA.
