You mean on it's side? If so, it should be fine.
as the title suggests...are there any issues with mounting a DVD drive (or any CD drive for that matter) vertically. i know PS2 is built for both vertical and horizontal mounting - but i have a slot loader and was wondering if there are any issues to vertical mounting - or does it matter on the specific model drive?? thanks !!

no i mean vertical - a normal dvd drive is mounted horizontal - i want to take advantage of some space i have and mount the drive vertical - so in front of loading the dvd from the front -i would be loading from the top...
The only problem that I could think of would be the extra force of the drive motors having to push the disk out. Realistically, as long as the drive can push the disk out, there should be no problems.

okay thanks - i will check on that - i was actually more worried of the laser being put up at a 90 degree angle when it shouldnt - but that seems to be okay i guess
thanks!!!
if dvd drive is slim, no problem because there are a lot of thin clients that uses slim drives and they are built to stay vertically. To be sure, check the manufacturer and ask them directly
robert42 is it a slim drive?
Like this (a
or like this (b
[kind of like you would drop a cd into the slot from above)

I was thinking of mounting my slim slot load panasonic the same way. Any more input would be greatly appreciated.

For panasonic try this:
Technical Support for CD-ROM, DVD-ROM, CD-R, CD-RW and LS-120
panasonic@bigbytecorp.com
and say clearly that you don't have a problem with the drive, just a doubt (otherwise they will request a lot of support information). You need to know the model number.
Good luck!!
