    OMFG - 2.5" Nas Enclosure WIFI+RJ45+USB

Don’t know if this was posted before, but just got a mail from one of my suppliers announcing that he has in stock this Asus NAS enclosure. It looks very promising. With wireless, rh45 and USB access and for about 100€ without the HDD, I think it's a bargain. Going to get my hands on one tomorrow

I found very few references to this product on the net, and none ??? in asus global site, witch is kind of odd!!

Odd, why a 2.5" hdd? If you are going to do NAS you want cheap capacity....a 3.5" NAS box would make much more sense.

Very true. I think maxtor has one that takes 3.5" and does 802.11G + USB, just no RJ45 ports.

That was my first tought.. why not 3,5?? Maybe because it dosen´t need to have a external power suply unless it's using the wireless link?? Anyway, there must be some way to mod it to acomodate 3,5" discs??

Didnt found info on the maxtor unit. Are you refering to this http://www.linksys.com/HDD/ ??

Yea thats the one I was talking about. Its a linksys/maxtor joint product.

Unless you plug the USB into a computer, you still need a power supply to power the drive, no matter what size it is. Why would you want a USB powered wireless hard drive? Makes no sense to me.

    Your stupid. :P

It will allow you to share a hard drive with anyone within wireless range. The upside to this (not one powered from USB of course) is that no PC's need to be on in order to access the shared drive.
