    Servo is ideal then

But the theres hardly any difference between close and open

Is it like that so you can see the screen better? If thats all you need to move then go for the servo then...much easier than having to add limit switches.

I kept thinking the mechanism will slide the LCD in and out of its casing...you know the typical stuff sorry my mistakes
Yep, its not a lot but it makes a big difference with touch screen, plus if someone is withme I can close it so they can see it also.
Would the code be harder with a servo? How do you set the min/max travel?
    It's the cake having/eating thing.

Did you try the link to sproggy's site where he did the servo display? He even has the code there, but its hex so its just a bunch of numbers. If there were some way that I could find the right part to edit it would help a lot.

In that case cant you just rip out the mecanism from a tape deck? You know the door that pop open slowly when you open it...then you have to push it back. maybe it doesnt look so cool, but hey its functional right?

You just have to play around with the pulse width to have the screen fully close and fully open. You can get one of those servo tester if you want, its just a small circuit with a pot. If you have remote control TX/RX plug it in and see if the mechanism does really work before you start wasting time in coding.

I tried but my IE kept shutting down for some reason...java problem I think.

You can dissamble the HEX back into ASM...but its never gonna be easy to follow it. Best to try and get the original source code...why not ask?

I did today, by PM. How do you convert it back to ASM?

Do a google on "PIC 16F84 disassembler"

Something like this may be good enough :

    http://www.programmersheaven.com/zone5/cat197/2391.htm

You should get the ASM after running the program. Some may not like you doing this to their hex file though

I don't know if you will get an answer back from Sproggy. I think he takes large brakes between the time he visits the forums. The last time he posted somthing before today was 2 years ago. But if he does respond, it would be really great. I been following this thread from the begining and have been thinking of servo but don't know much about them. So if you guys come up with a design it would be awesome.
