Check out my old thread for $3.99 slot loaded cd rom drives (cd! not dvd!)
Slimline slot loading CD-roms for $3.99
Now, is there somewhere I can just get the converter board for these things without the case? I know I can go slim-to-IDE IDE-to-2.0, but if I could bypass the IDE, it would be nice.Originally Posted by Don 944 LA
Also, I got a slim-to-IDE adapter for my tower comp, and it comes with a bracket to mount it in a 5.25" bay, with room for a 3.5" HDD. Does anyone know of a 5.25" mounting bracket that allows you to mount two slim CD drives?

If anyone is interested to know, I asked the manufacturer about running from USB power. Didn't think the slim drives sucked that much power...
thanks for your interesting in our products,
external silm enclosure should be used with power adapter on USB port,
it only provide 500mA from bus power, for slim CD or DVD,
it is spend at least 1.5A above.
but,the firewire 1394 should not be need power adapter.
