Well, anythings possible, but good luck trying. I haven't heard anyone else rigging it up.
can a TI-calculator be used to control a PC?specifically for mp3 usage?

Its entirely possible. TI calcs have their own programming lanuage which has serial transfer capabilities, so it would just be a matter of making a program for the calc and one for the computer that would interpret key presses on the calculator, send that info to the computer, then the computer would take appropriate action and send some info like playlists etc back to the calc. It would definitly not be a quick project but it is very possible. I just wouldnt want the ghetto unlit screen on the calc. Good luck though.

well if you're really serious about doing the whole TI thing... you know the calculator that you had in highschool and you don't need anymore now that you're done with math in college. Go ahead, basically you'll have to learn how to make an interface program and the backlight thing is really easy to fix. just get leds, like blue or yellow and place them in the case on the bottom of your screen. there are a few people that have done it look around on the web. i spent my whole life getting away from math and i sure as hell don't want it in my car![]()
Maybe I just don't get it, but I can't for the life of me figure out why someone would go to all this trouble when for $25US you can get a MouseRemote that needs no wiring and works great.
well for 25$ you get a remote mouse... but what else?
I was thinking it would be interesting to let a passenger buddy play around with a TI82/85/86/87/92 for playing mp3s and games since it has a serial interface, a LCD display (even more impressive on 92) and cursor keys, alphanumeric stuff, numbers, etc etc.
and aside from teh normal "calculator" big-letters font, there is teh ultra-small graphical text font that looks nice.
Its only a "wow-value" thing to impress nerdy friends with, nothing else.![]()

Instead of having the Calculator control the song. Has anyone ever thought of having the calculator keep track of play-lists? Any good Basic or ASM programmers out there?
