Nope, not missing anything, it's the design. If I were you I'd rewire my power button, and probably remove the lid switch.
Okay, I bought a Fujitsu-Siemens S6120 laptop off eBay for my newest carputer. I also bought a port replicator for it, to ease plugging it in-and-out, and so I can use it whilst closed.
The laptop is one of these
THe port replicator is one of these
Now, the problem is it has no power button! And the laptops power button means I have to lift the screen to power it on. And then I have to leave the screen up, as closing it shuts the machine down.
So, what's the point in a port replicator (whose point is to easily use external screen/ketboard etc) that has to have the laptop open all the time?????
Anyone else used one of these? Am I missing something?
No way, that's bobbins!!! The reason I bought the replicator was so that I could hack-apart-a-cheap-thing rather than the laptop! That's a REALLY bad design!!Originally Posted by Tidder
Rewiring the power button is an extra wire to plug in every time I move the laptop.
When in doubt, moo at things.
