    Can't play video! Help!

I don't really know where to post this question, so this is where it goes!

I recently installed a laptop HD as my main HD via an adaptor to the standard HD cable. Everything installed just fine. I installed the video drivers the first time and the computer would lock up. (On-board GeForce 4MX)
I thought this was strange, so I formatted the HD and re-installed!
Upon re-installation, I d/l the latest GF drivers and installed them. They installed fine, but every time I try to play a video (avi, mpg, divx, anything)
It deletes the file and restarts the computer.

What the heck could be going on! I've tried changing bios settings, reinstalling drivers, etc...

    Any ideas?

It deletes the file and reboots your computer? That is insane.

Try putting a video file that won't work onto a CDR and playing it from there....it can't be deleted from a CDR and I would be interested in how it handles that.

I have honestly never heard of anything like this and my first thought was viri....is that a possbility do you think? Is this machine on the internet?

I just found the reply! For some reason, i never got the notification of a reply..
In any case, I don't think that it is from a virus, it was a freshly formatted HD and had no previous problems.
I was surprised about the file deletion myself... very strange indeed.
I'll try that Cd Idea tonight... in the mean time, any other thoughts?
