Lightbulb (IR Night Vision Flood Light) What do you think?

So I put a web cam in my truck but it works bad at night or even mid afternoon and i wanted to find a way to fix it and stumbled across this

    http://www.thespystore.com/infraredilluminator.htm

all this really is is a pcb board with 96 Infrared LEDs. for almost $200.00 after shipping. So i was thinking if anyone else is interested in this thing i'm pretty sure i can make them myself and the more parts i order the cheaper the cost for everybody mine would look more like this as a finnished product. Gimme some feedback and let me know if you guys think this is a bogus idea!

See, I was wondering the same thing.. if I could add IR LED's to my back hatch glass to improve my Keylock camera's nightvision.
My cam is reverse color though, the description of that item says it works w/ their b/w cams. Anyone know if it'll work with any cam @ night?

I have done alot of research on this...

I have done alot of research on this and the best way to check and see if it will work is to point your tv remote at the camera at night and if your cam picks up the light then it will work the nm rating of a remote isnt the best so it might be a dim glow but any pickup of light will tell you if it will work or not.

the right led's will look like a flood light

I certainly be interested, but what if...and this is just a "what if"

I got some circuit board from Rat Shack that had the solder points on it.

Bought a butt load of IR led's from Ebay, y'know those Hong Kong bag-o-LEDs type of deals.

Spent about 30 min to an hour soldering up the whole thing.

Put a resistor on there to handle the 12v coming from the car, and turned it on while my camera was pointed in the same direction?

That's just my question. IF the whole thing ran about $20 I would definitely consider getting one. BUT I've got too much old-skool hacker in me to not look at something and say "Hey, why couldn't I have put that together?"

Granted, not everyone has got soldering experience or has any idea what a breadboard is, and yes...someone who just wants to be lazy (which I definitely qualify) could say HEY that's a good idea, I want one!

well bassically thats what i was going to do but after researching the the supplies i found out that the Hong Kong bag-o-LEDs type of deals are not the right led's and i designed a pcb board for the project but if you wanted to make one yerself i would be happy to share the knowledge.

if there was more interest i could get the price alot lower i wasnt looking to make a profit just get it cheeper for myself.

    p.s. i cant spell for s@#t
