5.25 drive in a DIN slot

I want to convert my 5.25" DVD-ROM drive to USB or firewire and put it in a DIN slot. Am I just going to have to make an adapter, or is there something I can buy or easily make work?

I know things like this exist, but it's still for a 5.25 slot in a computer, and I'd still have to mess with it.

You'll have to make somethihng. The drives aren't as wide as the DIN slot.
Have you looked in the FAQ yet?
    How about the Wiki?

Under normal circumstances, a signature would go here.

Bah. That's exactly what I didn't want to hear. No easy tricks or anything? I'm just going to have to fab something out of sheet metal and plastic?

you'll have about a half inch gap on each side and tiny gap vertically. I doubt anyone makes a 5.25 to DIN adapter, so it will have to be a custom job

go to home depot and use something called lexan. it's in the door and window section, right next to the plexiglass, 1 foot away. they sell it in 1/8 sheets, it's exactly like plexiglass, except in higher thicknesses, it's bulletproof. i just built a trim for my dash out of 1/8" plexiglass and it snapped when it flexed a little bit. i had a scrap piece of lexan and i can bend it clean without it breaking. it's solid. it looks, cuts, and sands like plexi but a hell of a lot stronger. build yourself a trim piece and just paint it to match the dash.
