Trust it. It is your RAM. That or an overly fragmented hard drive. But it is your RAM.
And yes I meant at least 256MB more.

i also add another 512mb kingston ram, so i have 1024mb
that helped speed up the programs when i was multi-tasking, especially when workin with photoshop and the internet at the same time

if anything upgrade your ram and delete the garabe off your hd

yah I've been meaning to do that lately.
I saw a file that "file on disk" was like "file size" x 2.. so that would be causing a problem...

I'll do that tonight, then reevaluate if I need some more ram.. any responses to post #9 ?

    edit: oh.. dual channel = $$ ??

I know you said you checked for spyware, but check again adaware and spybot work the best for me.
Is this just a problem when your burning cd's? It may be the program that your using. I know when i use nero to burn dvd's it will cause lag when changing windows, however, this is only when going to and from nero

What other programs do you have running in the background when you noticed this? You could have something there that isnt playing nicely.

You should also check out this site
    http://www.blackviper.com/
go to the windows version that you have and look at the super tweaks
Also it is a good idea to look at the service configuation page and disable any services that you dont need.

Finally, have you updated all your drivers? Have you appllied any relevant patches for the software that you use? You can usually get these files from the vendors site etc.

let us know how you make out
    amd 1700, biostar m7ncg 400, hitachi deskstar 120 8mb , 512 pc2700, liliput 7"
now to put it all together

All 1GB sticks cost a ton! Also depends on what speed you get.
