    Both those cards I mentioned earlier come in PCI versions.

    Not sure about the power requirements though. Could the recommendation of 250W be put up there due to the considerations of other components?

    My point is if you use notebook's slimd dvd drive and hard drive than you'd probably be able to shave a lot of power down. Mini-box (http://www.mini-box.com) has a 200W power supply, probably it would be a good candidate. Of course, there are other power supplies. Folks here use Opus.

    Do a little math for your power requirements first to help make a decision for a power supply.

    i will be using a slim dvd/cdrw and a notebook HD, and probably the Opus 150w. how can you read these forums and not know Opus

    Well, actually I am aware of Opus' existence. Have never really delved into it though. The price kinda scares me.

    Just replaced my radeon 9600 to the Chaintec FX5200 because of performance problems. I like the performance of the Chaintech alot better.
