    Question Finger print scanners to open doors and start truck

    anyone know of a way to make it so i can unlock my doors with a finger print scanner. and mabey start the truck.

    i dont wanna need my pc on.
    and i want a way to make them with stand the tempature.

    i just had this idea the other day thought it would be neat but i have no ideas on how it would work, so any ideas you have make a comment.

    Well your first problem is the fact that you dont want your computer to have to be on. That would mean you need some sort of emmbedded controller.....Second the cold. There are finger print scanners currently on the market but they arent made for that type of use so they wouldnt stand up to the cold. About the easiest part would be installing it. But that isnt easy at all....you would need to cut a whole in your door to place the thumbpad and then mount it flush so that it fits in and is not going to let water in....so in short it IS doable...but it would take lots of time money and electronics knowledge.

    P.S. I've wanted to do the same thing since I saw the fost fingerprint scanner for computers.....

    k thnx for the info I thought it would be to much. I was just curious thoguth mabey they had some kits so mabey it would be cool. but if not ill wait till someone else does it.

    More doable would be to shave the door handles off and add remote door lock and door open. I have seen this before and it is NICE!

    thats acualy a idea ive seen that before to looked sweet but for now i gotta start my planning my new dash and interor before i work on the exteror.
