7" Touch Screen
GPS Receiver with USB Interface (GlobalSat - Model : BU-303)
Unsure of which GPS software would be the best yet:S
Thanks again
Hi ,im just starting my in car pc an have most of it planned out,but one thing im stuck on is the motherboard is it really worth spending like an extra 40-50quid on a Via Epia-M 10000 Nemehiah or would i be ok with just...VIA EPIA-M9000 933MHz
I want the machine for playing MP3's (a large collection around 25gb) ,Films (pegs etc ) music videos an gps.
Would the cheaper m9000 be good enough?.
Plus would a pci riser card with SB Audidgy card of some sort be a good idea as im never to keen on onbord sound.
System plan so far
M10000 or M9000 board
512Mb 2100ddr
Onboard Gfx
Ethier Riser card an Audigy Or onboard Sound
60-80GB 7200 3.5 HDD
Opus 150w supply (unlees you lot think i cud get away with only a 90w opus)
Thanks alot for you advice an help in advance

welcome Captain,
I plan on using the m10000 myself.. i think it will do fine for much of what's planned.
Your memory quote will be a big boost to performance as well.

Spend the extra money, there is a better core in the cpu on the 10000 than the one on the 9000 which means there is more speed difference than the 70mhz might suggest.
I use a 9000 and it struggles a little when you try and do more than one thing at a time (ie GPS and mp3 or Divx)

....Yes, I know it has a stupid name, those crazy Japanese!
so you all say its worth the extra cash then? i had read somthing on here about the core i was just wondering if it was worth it,i guess so,ahhh well more moeny goin into ma car then....:S

i have the m9000 its not a bad mobo. yeah it does struggle some what. but if ur going to install a 512 mb ram it somewhat compensates for the lower cpu. i use to havea 128mb266 ram in theiradi would get shoppy dvd playback then i went with a 512mb266 and i have played family guy, star wars episode 1 with out a skip. and i do run my gps and play my mp3s at the same time with not much lag. it loads up pretty quick.
Save the cash and go for something faster. You don't want to re-do your system in another year or 2 right?
