I have twin diversity antenna's I bought off e-bay. They dont go directly to the pc, they go to my external tv tuner/av switcher. Reception SUX. I dont know if there is a better option out there or not.
Trying to get an idea of what antenna works with carpcs. Manufactuer, Model, and reception quality please.

Most if not all of the in-car TV tuner aerial's (English English)/antenna's (American English) are the same design and don't work very well (the kind that fit across the rear windscreen of the car).
I heard somewhere that the best option would be to either use a limousine style one (not sure where you'd find a supplier for these!) or perhaps modify the aerial that comes with one of the major car hi-fi brand TV tuners.
Not really the answer I was looking for either - I'm still searching though!
Cheers,
Andy
From what I understand, those limo style boomerang lookin things are the same type of antenna, the diversity. I wish I had a bigger car so I could put one of those portable satellites on it! I want a satellite tv reciever that gets its data through a xm style antenna! Mark me down!

I actually made adapters and hooked both my TV and Radio Extreme up to the factory car antenna. With a booster from radio shack, reception was real good on the TV. The radio improved considerably, but still wasn't up to HU quality. I have since put the TV on a dedicated antenna. One of the powered diversity ones on ebay. Reception was better with the factory car fm antenna and the booster.

can I cut the wires on the diversity and hook it up to my TV card with an old rabbit ears adapter?

Rather than cutting them off, I'd probably go to Radio Shack and get an adapter that converts the 1/8" plug to a rabbit ear wire set up. That way if it doesn't work you don't ruin a perfectly good antenna.Originally Posted by nickmig

I've found that you can buy replacement 'bee-sting' aerials for VWs that have amplifiers built in.

I'm tempted to try one of these out as my aerial needs replacing anyway (I'm sure this will fit onto the roof of a Ford Fiesta)
Cheers,
Andy
Just found another aerial that looks like it might be suitable for use with a TV aerial.
