    Cool, Thanks.

Nope! If I did, I'd definately love to contribute more, but...

An early planning step in a project like this might be to scour the web for pinouts on the cable. Maybe there's a V1 service manual that might have it, for instance? If so, might be worth cozying up to your local high end car audio/etc shop who might let you take a gander.

If it's any help, that looks a lot like the escort, but has a more complex protocol. The escort just uses data acquisition (5V idle, 0V pulses) to control a remote beeper/LED. You can use a DMM to figure out which pins are GND and 12V, then the other 2 pins are data and data ground (probably) or tx/rx but I wouldn't think it's 2-way. Connecting those 2 pins to a scope and turning it on can tell you what the signal is easily, but a DMM would at least show if it's within a safe 5V range for connecting to RS232, then you can try to reverse engineer the data coming from it if it's even compatible.

That's perfect! No need for a scope or anything, you should be able to do your project with that document alone as reference. Lucky guys!

wow that is awesome. now we can do everything we want with radar signal, lowering music vol, graphic radar display, custom warning sounds, customize with gps, someone just needs to write a program. unfortunately i only know visual basic, and i'm not sure how to listen for signal with it. plus i have the escort right now, but i'll buy the v1 if there's a program. actually i may just buy it anyway.
