Dude - SEARCH! There are a few projects on this board for WRX carputers that have custom mounted LCD's. Some people sell WRX bezels that will perfectly fit a 7" LCD. So, SEARCH! Good luck...

I just bought a Lilput in dash touch screen for my WRX from digitalww with the intent for mounting it above my c134 travla case. I sawed off the end of the c134 so it would fit depth wise. The face plate is a bit too wide for the front bezel which I was going to get creative on. However, the front plate for the Lilput is significantly wider than the front bezel. Probably by a half inch or so. I suppose my question is where can I find if at all a bezel for my car that might have wider openings? or if you are familier with the WRX do you have any suggestions? I'd rather not hack up the bezel as the lilput is so big any adjustment I would make would probably look pretty heanous. I would mount just the screen down there as I have seen people do but I have no experience with bondo or any other type of fabbing. Maybe someone knows a way to do that easily? I can get some pictures up if someone would like to see. Thanks in advance for the help.

I feel your pain Rabyd... My first carputer project was putting a Lilliput in dash from digitallww into my Legacy sedan. Yes, the Lilliput monitor is larger than a standard Din... mostly in width. I hacked off a good 1/4 to 1/2" from each side of the bezel. Not to mention that the trim ring around the display case is only held by some really small screws and now, the trim piece is loose due to the plastic holes for the screws wearing out. Basically, order a new bezel from a subaru parts site (there's a few out there) and that way, you can be a little creative and gutsy in trying to take a dremel to the bezel.
Thanks for the replys. HD, I may be a newbie here but certainly not to forums. I have searched and come up with very little. I was able to find this web site: http://www.tmz.com/wrx/bezel.html but he doesn't offer the chassis for sale, just the bezel. While the bezel would be nice I was looking for a more complete solution. I would appreciate any information you have found if it's readily accessible to you. Dude, thanks for the idea, I was thinking of ordering a new bezel from my local dealership anyway as I'll probably end up mucking it up pretty bad. I suppose the next purchase to make is a dremel tool. Any other help is appreciated.
Have you searched for other WRX projects - there are at least 2 in the show off forum - both with flush-mount LCD's. I leave it to you to search.
So you're freaking out because there's on easy-to-install solution to get a flush-mount 7: screen in your dash?!?!?!Originally Posted by rabydanimal
If that's the case, you need to find another hobby. This isn't a hobby where there's all sorts of easy bolt-in solutions for what we all want, PARTICULARLY for in-dash screens.
Answers:
1) There are no pre-made bezels for your screen in your car (or for any car, for that matter).
2) There is no 'easy' way to do it.
If you're going to much around withy bondo-ing or fiberglassing a custom mount, get some spare dash pieces to do it on, possibly even a spare case for your screen and work on that, so your ride isn't going to look 'under construction' while you're working on it.
Be patient, follow instructions, and wear a dust mask while you sand.
WHAT!?!?! That's it, I quit.Originally Posted by DarquePervert
