3.5mm Phone Plugs Suck
Just figured I'd let people know. If you are having a problem with audio cutting in and out, check the plug at the sound card. Odds are that road vibrations have worn out the plug or jack. It should be a simple matter to replace it with more robust RCA jacks by soldering the wires to the back of the sound card.
I had an annoying intermittant audio loss until I did this.
