No, it doesn't. The vertical or horizontal discution is for 3.5 HDDs, not laptop ones, those are made to stand shocks.
From what I have read it is best to mount the hard drive vertical (opposite how it is mounted in a PC) I have a 20 gig laptop HD in my truck PC. What I need to know is this...... Does it matter if the plugs are up, down, or to the side?

PCs have drives mounted horizontal and vertical, so do cars. the placement of the wires should be such that they do not come loose. other than that it will not matter.
Both laptop and desktop drives have shock ratings. Both are fine in cars.Originally Posted by Cris
