    Post DOS Sound Card

I am looking for a good sound card that works well in dos. (I am using mpxf for my software). I specifically want one that will have good sound quality and is not a memory hog. Oh yea line out a must.

    Any recommendations..

You might consider trying the ESS (ISA) series. I got my ESS 1869 at a local computer store for $19 ... and that was at a computer store that usually rips people off by doubling the online prices. It sounded perfectly fine (I guess I'm no audiophile though), and best part was it required no drivers at all. MPXPlay software has a setting for ESS sound cards, so that took care of it with no problem. I'm just using an onboard sound card now (in an attempt to have no ISA cards, but then found out that you have to have a video card in for the MPXFTSR to work).

And the card even has a line out!!!!

to make sure, you can also get a SB16 WavEffects. This is a pretty good car, altho kinda big. It is also plug-n-playish (depending on BIOS) so DAMP and MPXPLAY should recognize it. (OpenCP didn't work... drats)

I'm using this... the speaker-out is noisy but the line-out is clean as a whistle.

Free entrance to heaven? WOW! I DUN BELIEVE! JC!
