    Post A good Aux-In Challenge

    Well, i am trying to modify my AIWA-CDC-X517M to have rear Aux-IN. However, i cant seem to figure out where to solder in the connectors on the circuit board. Anyone feel like looking at it?

    That's the wrong side of the board to be useful, there aren't many ic part numbers visible. I'd start at IC501 on the left. Get the part number and see if you can find a data sheet on the web. It looks like an audio amp ic from the pin layout (although it might be a switching regulator ic). If an audio amp, I would trace the inputs back, and go from there. That's what I did with mine. Pictures and schematics of my HU mod on my site.

    Also, there are aux-l and aux-r marked on the board, that would be a bit of a clue too.

    Hang on a minute, just looked at some specs and this unit has a front panel aux in already. This is an absolute doddle to mod, you don't even have to add an aux-in like I did, you just move it.

    right, it does have front aux in, but it is on a removable face plate, so i dont know where to solder it onto the board.

    If I was going to factor a guess.. it looks like the AUX-IN is.. Top Right Hand Corner, 5W761 on that board..

    That should be visually apparent to you though...

    sw761 is probably a switch by it's denotation.

    Connectors are usually denoted by a J and the a number.

    And since the aux in is on a separate removal panel, the connector for it wouldn't be in the main unit.

    It makes sense... those solder padS are on the edge of the board, next to the face plate. The only thing smashr2k has to do is to check continuity with a multimeter between them (pads) and the front panel's aux in jack (with the face plate on the headunit of course).
