Someone please help, ok the only way i could explain this is that my mp3's are skipping, i've changed the harddrive, ram, and even checked the wires... but music is still skipping, not all the time but like once every 2 mins. could this be the power supply? any ideas or comments are welcome as i'm about to go crazy. Oh yeah the reason i'm asking if the powersupply would have anything to do with it is because while the pc was inside hooked up to a regular powersupply it was working fine.

Are you sure it's skipping? Maybe you have a bad connection at the line out of pc, or in at the amp?
Sometimes my laptop does that when it's been running for too long (IBM T20 w/ Win 98 SE). The computer's resources get eaten up and the soundcard chokes because it's not getting enough information. Do you have a slow CPU? A small amount of RAM? Are you running a lot of applications at once?
im sure it's not the outs or the amps, u can see where the screen like freezes for a sec when it skips.
Well i have a 1.8 ghz, and 256 ram, and that was working just fine for a while, the only thning i have running is my OS (XP of course) and frodo player. And that exactly what i thought it seemed to me that it was like a buffer underrun or somethingOriginally Posted by RPI Geek
That sounds like the problem, 256 is really a little shy of cutting it with xp running unless you've optimized everything.
Hmmm, did you make any changes to the computer before you first noticed the problem? Might your computer have gotten spyware on it?
My only other thought is to try running task manager while driving and watch the CPU and memory usage, then when it skips pull your car over and take a look at the profile to see if any specific program is using all your resources.
good idea will do that now, also i was reading something about wireless network cards making media skip so i'll check both and get back to you guys thanks for all the replys .Originally Posted by RPI Geek
