Talking ready made car pc (coolest I've seen so far)

The german magazine c't featured in its latest edition a quick blurb about this
    http://www.kontron.com/products/pdpr...yProduct=39558
the Kontron-CV server. As far as I can tell its the coolest ready made car pc I've seen so far. I'd be interested to find out more about the innards of that puppy.

    coolest?

i cant say its the coolest i've seen, because i dont know what's in it. For all i know it could be an 386 CPU

i cannot find out more info either, cause the web-page tells me this product is not available for my area, and after trying the "contact us" option presented, i was told it was "logistically not worthwhile" asking further info about this product given my location (oz).

    pffft, great company.

This catalog says that the box comes with either one of these processors.

    Intel® Pentium® III 700 MHz,
    Intel® 443MX, 256 kByte Cache;
    Intel® Pentium® M® (Q3/2004)

the first two I dont care for but the pentium M now that I like. AFAIK thats better than the VIA processor.
With regards to the availability that really is a bummer. I'd contact the US mobile computing division and see what they have to say. http://www.kontronmobile.com/kmcpdpr...yProduct=39558

If they refuse to sell it in USA and Australia than it must not be the 'best' in the world. There are hundreds of companies producing 'embedded' solutions.

WTF there is an office in San Diego and one in Quebec, 'not available in my area' hmmm I wonder where San Diego is??
    Carputer currently 'ghettoed' into car!!!

rough crowd I see As far as I can tell they do have offices and sales in pretty much all the parts of the world. Now Australia is not one of them but I am sure that without any major efforts you could get a box from japan or the usa.
as far as speed is concerned I thought a Pentium M is faster than a VIA proc.
looking past the hype and all the marketing buzz I still think that this is one of the best ready made, car ready computers out there.

Migrane, why are you thinking such good stuff about this?

I cant really see advantages over other systems.... Can you highlight the "pros" for the understanding-impaired like me?
