    Found the answer 2.5 or 3.5 ide drives to usb adaptor

    For those of you wishing to use 2.5 or 3.5 ide devices on usb 2 here is the answer no long cat 5 cut and pray cables, no long lets extend the ide past its spec

    one usb adapter for all needs and pretty cost effective as well
    Nano ITX / 512 MB / 60 GB / Panasonic slot load / M1-ATX / Bu303 / Sound blaster 24 / PPi amps / rockford sub

    The main reason most people here are doing long cable runs are not for IDE hard drives but for IDE CD Rom drives... Either Slim or regular. You would then need an additional adpator for that device to work. And as i see it, it is just another power hungry mouth to feed.

    I'll stick with my 6 foot IDE cable
